Confirm the contract process before booking the reception

Ask the court or authorised marriage official what applies to your couple, then give the venue a clear ceremony and guest brief.

  • Confirm documents, screening, witnesses, guardian requirements or applicable exceptions directly with the authority.
  • Ask who is responsible for the contract, the ceremony setting and the reception; put each scope in writing.

If you want a Nikah in Dubai, confirm the marriage-contract process with the relevant court or authorised marriage official before arranging the celebration. Then build the venue, guest schedule and reception around the confirmed requirements.

> General planning information, not legal advice or a religious ruling. Official sources checked on 12 September 2026. Requirements depend on the authority and both partners’ circumstances.

Who should we contact first?

Ask the relevant court or authorised marriage official, sometimes called a mazoon, whether your proposed marriage fits its service. Tell them both partners’ nationalities, faiths, residence status and any previous marriages.

Dubai Courts’ marriage-contract service lists a premarital medical examination certificate from an authorised centre for its legal-marriage process. Ask the court which current checklist applies to your case. The UAE Government also publishes Sharia marriage guidance.

A celebrant, hotel booking or planner’s package should not be assumed to include an authorised legal marriage contract.

Which requirements should we confirm?

Ask the authority to provide a case-specific list covering:

  • Identity, residence and marital-status evidence for both partners.
  • Premarital screening: approved provider, timing and validity.
  • Witnesses: number, eligibility, documents and attendance.
  • Guardian requirements, including whether any exception applies to your circumstances.
  • Previous marriage records, where relevant.
  • Translation and attestation of foreign documents.
  • Appointment, authorised officiant, contract signing and certificate delivery.

Ask the court what guardian requirements or exceptions apply to your circumstances. If a guardian is abroad, unavailable or objects, take that question to the court or a qualified adviser; a planner should not determine the legal answer or improvise a workaround.

For Pakistan-related documents, use the Pakistan–UAE guide. Indian couples should also check the Indian consular-service distinction.

Can the Nikah take place at our venue?

Confirm this with both the authorised official and the venue. Ask whether the proposed setting is permitted for the actual contract process, who arranges attendance and what charges or documents apply.

Keep the legal appointment separate in your schedule until that is confirmed. A venue saying it “hosts Nikah weddings” does not on its own answer who registers the marriage.

What should our family and venue brief include?

You can keep the celebration small or plan a larger reception. Describe your preferences rather than relying on a standard cultural package:

Planning areaQuestions for your venue and suppliers
Ceremony settingWho attends, where will they sit, and what needs privacy?
LanguageCan everyone understand the ceremony and announcements?
FoodWhat dietary requirements and tasting arrangements are agreed?
PhotographyAre there privacy preferences, restricted moments or areas?
Guest comfortAre prayer space, accessibility and family facilities suitable?
ScheduleIs there enough time between the appointment, photographs and meal?

Read the venue rules guide for alcohol, décor and permit questions. Venue policies should be confirmed for the specific event space.

What if paperwork or an appointment is delayed?

Before paying, ask how provisional dates, postponement, supplier changes and refunds work. Agree who communicates changes to the venue, officiant and guests.

Our wedding contract checklist helps you put those questions into writing. Do not rely on a verbal promise that “everything is included”.

How WeddingChamps can help

We can discuss UAE wedding venues, reception suppliers and your event brief. Where specialist registration support is needed, we can discuss finding an appropriate partner; WeddingChamps does not issue marriage contracts or legal decisions.

Tell us about your Nikah and celebration plans. Confirm the legal provider and written service scope before booking any registration support.

Questions couples ask

Does a venue’s Nikah package automatically include legal registration?

Do not assume it does. Confirm who the authorised marriage official is, which authority handles the contract and what the package includes.

Can a planner decide whether a guardian exception applies?

No. Take the actual circumstances to the court or a qualified legal adviser. A wedding planner should not determine or bypass legal requirements.
